FAQ

How much will your salon save?
Stop pouring money down the drain! Saving a single tube a day covers your investment. See the chart below and start saving up to 50% on wasted color:

CTS doesn’t formulate or mix haircolor?
Formulation is a personal thing and is an outlet for creativity – seeing completed color provides a sense of accomplishment. CTS manages waste and the quality of color by providing perfect mixtures – this helps our planet by not pouring unneeded hair color down drains. This also helps stylists easily maintain, increase and value their knowledge. It is still a people business.

Does CTS works with a common element?
We know that all hair color is mixed with developer or processing solution. By monitoring, you know how much color is used and if it’s being wasted. Every stylist has a personal PIN that must be entered before activating CTS.

Does CTS prevent color waste?
After the amount has been determined, you can confirm if it was the proper amount for the client or if the service was under- charged. CTS provides a helpful report.

Does CTS monitor shrinkage and/or pilferage?
The main culprit of shrinkage is over use and under reporting of color on stylists and employees for their own services. By having to use their PIN to mix developer with color, you will know quantities and if payments were correct. Pilferage can be uncovered as well – when you order, if amounts exceed available inventory, you’ll know unmixed color was removed.

Is CTS compatible with all color lines?
All brands are mixed with developer, the container makes no difference. CTS is not concerned with color formulas, just quantity of color, which is why it’s easy to use.

Does CTS makes better hair color?
When you dispense the exact amount, you will have consistent hair color. Too much developer, the color may be too light or transparent and not cover grey. Too little developer, the color may go darker. When there is hair color failure, improper mixing ratios of developer and color are usually last in line over application, timing, mixing or coverage. This shouldn’t be the case.

Can CTS can also increase revenue when hair length is considered?
Sometimes more product is needed and that extra material does not always get charged for, making for unprofitable color service. Proper training on mentioning necessary material and additional charges, increases revenue.

Can the CTS be a good training aid?
The information downloaded can point out when a stylist is over-using color and it’s not necessary. This creates an opportunity for discussion about why they over-use: they’re afraid of not covering outgrowth; they fear not having enough and mix more. They don’t realize that more is not always better with color -– too much causes damage. CTS means better- trained stylists.

Can CTS be used to manage color inventory?
The cost of color, developer and sales tax can all be programmed into the system so every time color is mixed, after loading the report you will know how much was used and what the cost should be.

Is CTS affordable and attainable?
See the enclosed chart and find your monthly color cost. Use 20% – 30% as a realistic savings, and see what that amounts to in dollars. Then subtract the monthly lease charge and that is your savings. You’re paying for the machine with your hair color cash.

Troubleshooting

Please refer to this page if you experience similar problems. If you have further questions or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
The Problem: The unit says there is less developer in the machine than there actually is. (i.e., there is 100oz in the bag, but it shows there is only 34oz.)

Why is this happening?
Levels need to be reset manually every time the bag is filled.

How to fix the problem...
1. Fill the bag completely.
2. Reset the bin to your max capacity in cc’s, oz’s or grams.
3. Remember to subtract the amount shown from max amount. For example, if the unit shows 34 oz., subtract 34 oz from 100 oz, reset at 66 oz.
(Select F2 to see the current level.)

The Problem: The employee’s PINs do not work.

Why is this happening?
The PINs have not been assigned to the CTS unit.

How to fix the problem
1. On the computer in the CTS program, connect to the unit.
2. Select Users
3. Select Login Assignments. *Refer to the installation manual for detailed instructions.

The Problem: Inconsistent dispensing. Example: Instead of dispensing the default 2 oz, it dispenses 1.5 oz.

Why is this happening?
If the amount of developer in the bag gets too low, making it seem like calibration is off.

How to fix the problem
1. Owner/Manager should refill the machine completely.
2. Follow the instructions in the installation manual to calibrate the machine.
3. Verify the amount dispensed is the default amount.
4. Never let the bins get below 12oz. It’s better to top off every night, as opposed to letting it get too low.

The Problem: There are air bubbles in the tubes.

Why is this happening?
The tubing came loose.

How to fix the problem
1. Open the front of the unit
2. Replace the tubing into the track
3. It is very important to remember, the bins NEVER NEED TO BE REMOVED OR MOVED
4. Never let the bins get below 12oz. It’s better to top off every night, as opposed to letting it get too low.

The Problem: When I check the levels in F2, there is no number, only “….”

Why is this happening?
There is a 4-digit limit to the refill amount.’

How to fix the problem
1. Every time the bag is refilled, the amounts need to be manually reset.
2. Subtract the amount remaining from the max amount. For example, if the unit shows 34 oz remain in the bag, and 100 oz is the max capacity, subtract 34 from 100. The reset amount should be 66 oz.

The Problem: The PLC screen on the unit is freezing.

How to fix the problem
Unplug the unit for 30 – 45 seconds

The Problem: There is no data in the computer program.

Why is this happening?
Data does not automatically transfer from the unity to your computer.

How to fix the problem
